My Spring Inspiration

Ok, I'm not going to lie, I really don't like what I made for today, a flower baby rattle.  In my head it was awesome, it was cool, it was the bees knees!  But...it didn't translate to real life the same way.  I knew it was doomed when I got half way through it and didn't have the will to finish it, but I did, and I don't really like it.  Oh well, it was only the first run, and it can only get better from here!

Etsy Spring Inspiration

Today is Etsy inspiration!  I've been looking around etsy all week for ideas of what I could make for spring.  There are so many cute things out there it was hard to decide what to put on here.  But here they are, in all their springy glory!

Spring Into History

So we all know spring is awesome, and that it’s the season between winter and summer (or if you live in Michigan, it’s the season between winter and second winter or sometimes between second winter and road construction).  Spring mean’s rebirth, regrowth, renewal.  The seasons are determined by the temperature of the months, and each season lasts roughly around 3 months.  Here we know March 20th as the first day of spring, but some Celtic and East Asian cultures consider March 20th “mid-spring.”  Spring is the result of the warmth from the Earth’s axis beginning to tilt towards the sun.  Since the weather starts to get warmer, the plants start to grow again, leaves and flowers on trees start to bloom, and animals come out of hibernation.

Now let’s regrow our love for everything spring, and think spring this week!

Spring Time

This week’s inspiration idea is Spring!! Yay!  It’s officially spring and that means the weather is going to get better, flowers are going to start coming out, and the birds have already started to sing!  Am I excited?  Yes, yes I am.  I live in Michigan, so spring doesn’t last too long we have winter, second winter, pot hole season, and road construction.  Do you see spring in there?  Nope, you don’t, that’s because it comes between winter and second winter, and it only lasts about an hour.  Ok, so I exaggerate a bit.  But on a semi more serious note, Spring is awesome, and it’s my favorite time of year, even though it’s the worse time of year for my allergies.  So let’s get our thinking caps on, it’s Spring!!

Happy Last Day of Winter

Happy last day of winter everybody!!  I don’t know about you but I am VERY excited winter is “over”.  It’s actually been warm here the last couple of days (we hit 70 2 days ago!).  But alas, the pesky weather person (I say person because she’s a women…well…not really a women, she’s a girl, she looks 10 years old) says it’s supposed to snain, snow rain, on Wednesday!  NOOOOO!!  Here’s hoping it doesn’t happen.

I also have a hidden agenda of why I’m happy for today, it’s my birthday!!  And I’m busy, busy ,busy.  Lunch with the in-laws, dinner with my mom, shopping, working on projects.   But I got cupcakes and ice cream cake from Coldstone Creamery!  I think that will help me get through the day.

So I did a lot of updated in my shop this week.  I added new items, relisted more items, updated my photos, and edited my photos.  Here is a peak at what’s new at my shop.  You can also check out my shop by clicking on the pictures on the side bar, or clicking on the picture below.

Wrap Up of St. Pat's

So what did we learn this week?  Well, I learned that St. Patrick wasn’t Irish, and that he was kidnapped as a teenager.  Who knew, right?  He brought Christianity to Ireland and used the shamrock to teach the Holy Trinity.  We also learned that blue was originally the color associated with St. Patty’s Day.

What I learned this week?  I learned how much I missed corned beef, and I discovered the artists “Mumford and Sons” (love them, check them out).

Remember, inspiration can come from anywhere.  And just because something you love and are inspired by isn’t in the medium you use, you can change it to fit the medium you use.  Take the green silk pin from Wednesday’s blog post.  I really love it, but I have no idea how to make it!  But what I can do, to fit what I know how to do and fit my shops theme, is make a green or white bib and then make a solid green, solid white or a green mixed with white flower to add to it.

Hope people learned something this week.  Have a happy weekend!!

My St. Patty's Day Inspiration

After looking through  all the wonderful items on etsy that have a St. Patty’s day theme, I got inspired to do so much!  I want to make a green bib with a white flower, similar to my Yellow Flower bib, or, I want to make a shamrock shaped rattle, or a leprechaun hat shaped rattle.  However, with a sick husband and sick cat, I didn’t have time to get around to experimenting with these ideas.

However, I did make one thing.  My sister saw “I’m McCute” written on something a while back and told me about it.  I absolutely loved it since my maiden name is McCue, and I’m pretty much pure Irish!  I had to make it!  But wait, I was already making another bib, and my other size 5 needles were being used on another project!  Crap!  I hurriedly finished the other bib I was working on and promptly started on my “I’m McCute” bib.  I took pictures of it the next day and posted it to etsy.  It was up on etsy for less than 8 hours before it was sold!
I promptly went to go make another one, but then realized I didn’t have enough green to make it.  I wanted to go to the store and get another skein, but then the plaque hit our apartment and I’ve had to take care of the sick husband and the sick cat.  Oh well, there is always next year.

                              HAPPY ST. PATRICK'S DAY EVERYONE!!!!
